Hilton Head vacation rental booking tips and tricks:

Getting the best rental home value:

  • To find the best rental within budget, we highly recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Hilton Head attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • In the Hilton Head area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers often offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area travel guides which will include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Narrow your Search:

  • Choose vacation dates and budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Ocean view condo at beachfront resort with pool, hot tub, pickleball & tennis has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If there's a certain Hilton Head beach you are crazy about, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.

Advice for a great stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your .
  • To make certain damages aren't attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. text the rental manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good ratings to stimulate more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
