Tips to get the optimal rental experience:

Get the best rental home value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To get the best rental home for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Booking websites typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area travel guides that include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning, selecting, and booking your Hilton Head rental home:

  • Select a group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. 5th Row, Sea Pines-South Beach, Private Pool, Private Path to Beach, 4 EnSuites has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rental home search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you reserve your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If there's a certain Hilton Head beach you simply love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or could be applied to your agreement.

Tips for a smooth stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
  • At Check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
  • When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to inspire new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review.
