Tips to get the very best Hilton Head rental home experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property management companies offer rate reductions for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides have offers and deals for local tours and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Begin by selecting your the best vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. 2 bedroom/3 bathroom townhouse style villa in Palmetto Dunes with lagoon view has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before you reserve your home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.

  • Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your life at home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to drive new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your experience find their best rental home. Please be objective.
