How to find the best Hilton Head rental home experience:

Finding your perfect vacation home:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Hilton Head. Booking in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guides which include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Selecting the perfect vacation home:

  • Start by selecting your a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Gorgeous condo close to beach with golf views and swimming pool has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before you book the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of concerns.
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • To make certain that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, note any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the property manager right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a wonderful stay? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
