Tricks and tips to get the perfect Hilton Head rental experience:

Getting the best rental home value:

  • Book your Hilton Head vacation in the Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area travel guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

During your stay:

  • Get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
  • To make sure damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the host right away to report any damages. • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • At departure, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
