Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation property experience:
Get the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Summertime is high season in the Hilton Head area. Booking your vacation home in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Hosts sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Often, property management companies supply Hilton Head area travel guides that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Selecting and booking your Hilton Head vacation home:
- Start by selecting your the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Beautifully renovated 1 bedroom villa with shared pool- ocean views has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible online. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before you book the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- If there's a certain Hilton Head attraction you long to visit, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
- Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if there is a dispute.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to compel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
