How to find the best Hilton Head rental experience:
Get the most from your budget:
- To get the best value, consider changing your vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain discounts for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Choosing the best rental in the Hilton Head area:
- First and foremost, have your family commit to the best dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Beachfront escape with pools, hot tub, WiFi, washer/dryer, & central AC has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the host before you book your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Upon check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to propel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
