Tips for getting the perfect rental experience:

Sticking to a spending plan:

  • Reserve your Hilton Head rental home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some owners offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Booking websites often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning, selecting, and booking the perfectvacation home:

  • First and foremost, have your family agree to dates and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Airy, lagoon-view condo with pool, hot tub & tennis - walk to the beach has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, call the host before reserving your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your . Put the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • Just before checking out, take a walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
