Our top Hilton Head vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
How to get the best value:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in Hilton Head. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitor guides which will include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Filter your rental search:
- First and foremost, have your family decide on dates and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. 507 Barrington Arms ~ 5th Floor Ocean Views from Beautiful 2br Villa! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the host before you book the property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly rental. Request details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
More tips for your stay:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
- To make certain damages aren't linked to your visit, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Contact the rental manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
