Tips to get the best vacation rental experience:
Sticking to your spending plan:
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Hilton Head area. Reserve your Hilton Head rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
How to choose the best vacation rental in Hilton Head:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Sunset Rentals
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. Otherwise, call the host before you book the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
More considerations for your visit:
- Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many issues.
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
- During check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
