Our top Rental home booking tips:
Money saving strategies:
- Summer months are high season in Hilton Head. Booking in Fall or Spring is a good way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer rate reductions for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have coupons for nearby tours and attractions.
Make a plan and pick the best Hilton Head rental home:
- First, have your family select date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. 2-story house with private heated outdoor pool, stunning views & foosball has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rental home search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property manager before you reserve your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's an individual Hilton Head attraction you are crazy about, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a terrific time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
