Tips to get the optimal vacation home experience:

Finding your perfect rental home:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Reserve your Hilton Head rental home in the Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area travel guides which often include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Updated oceanfront condo with shared pools, WiFi, hot tub & beach access has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head vacation rental search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If there's a particular Hilton Head attraction you simply love, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or may be applied to your contract.

During your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • To make certain that no damages are linked to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas during arrival. message the host right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peace. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental while you are away. Keep your property safe!
  • At departure, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on good ratings to inspire future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
