Strategies for getting the best vacation property experience:

Find your perfect vacation home:

  • Summertime is high season in Hilton Head. Booking your Hilton Head vacation home in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes.
  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Some property management companies offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain coupons for local shops and restaurants.

Choosing the perfect rental home in the Hilton Head area:

  • First and foremost, have your group choose a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Luxury rental - Fall discounted Rates & Min nights - Pool\/Spa-75 steps to beach has 7 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the host before you book the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what is right for your trip.
  • Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or might be applied to your agreement.

More tips for your visit:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Upon arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great ratings to propel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
