Tips and Tricks to get the best Hilton Head vacation property experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is high season in Hilton Head. To find the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guides which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Make a plan and choose a perfect Hilton Head vacation home:

  • Select a group lead, choose your dates, and choose a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Gorgeous oceanfront beach home with private pool in Palmetto Dunes sleeps 22 has 8 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Tips to have a wonderful stay:

  • Add the host's phone number to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
  • Record any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic source for finding the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
