Tricks and tips to get the optimal Hilton Head vacation home experience:

Getting the most from your rental budget:

  • Summer is high season in the Hilton Head area. Booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
  • The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property managers frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area travel guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to choose and book the bestrental:

  • Start by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Spacious, ocean-view condo w\/ a shared pool, sundeck, & grilling area has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before you book the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
  • If there's a particular Hilton Head destination you simply love, browse properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly rental. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.

More considerations:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
  • During check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent resource to find the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all of your things. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on good ratings to compel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
