Tricks and tips to get the optimal vacation rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Some hosts offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area travel guides that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to choose and book the bestrental:
- Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. 5th Row, Sea Pines-South Beach, Private Pool, Private Path to Beach, 4 EnSuites has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. If not, email or call the property manager before you book the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to determine which bed configuration is best for your group.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or may be applied to your agreement.
- If there's a particular Hilton Head destination you are enamored with, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
Advice for your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many issues.
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
- Upon check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a great vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
