Tricks and tips for getting the best Hilton Head vacation rental experience:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- June, July, and August are high season in Hilton Head. To get the best value, try shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, , and reduced traffic.
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Some owners offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Often, management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to pick the best vacation rental in Hilton Head:
- Choose your vacation dates and max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Spectacular home located on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before you reserve your rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
Advice for a terrific stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many concerns.
- Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to inspire future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
