Tips and Tricks to get the perfect rental experience:
When to book a Hilton Head rental home & When to go:
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Book your Hilton Head rental home in Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Often, rental management companies supply Hilton Head area travel guides which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting and booking a perfectrental:
- To start, have your group agree to vacation dates and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Spectacular home located on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available online. Otherwise, call the property manager before you book the rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what is right for your trip.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or costs might be applied to your invoice.
- If there's a specific Hilton Head attraction you are crazy about, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many issues.
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect your property!
- Record any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if there is a dispute.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to inspire new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
