Tips to get the very best vacation property experience:

Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Summertime is high season in Hilton Head. Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.

Make a plan and choose a perfectrental:

  • Start by choosing vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Palmetto Dunes 2 Bedroom Villa has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what is right for your trip.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or might be applied to your agreement.
  • If there's a specific Hilton Head attraction you are crazy about, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .

Considerations for your stay:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
  • Document any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if there is a dispute.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your life at home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
