Our top Rental home booking tips:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- June, July, and August are high season in Hilton Head. Booking your vacation home in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Some property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many rental management companies supply Hilton Head area travel guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to select the perfect vacation home in Hilton Head:
- Start by choosing your a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Beach Blossom - Weekly & Monthly Rates from January to March 2025\/PET FRIENDLY has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rental home search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property manager before you book the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or might be applied to your invoice.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
More considerations for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Upon arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible source for finding the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
