Tips and Tricks to get the best Hilton Head vacation property experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • To get the best value, try changing your family's Hilton Head vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Some owners offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Filter your rental search:

  • Choose vacation dates and max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Family Condo In Ideal Location w\/Shared Pool, WiFi, W\/D, Firepit - Near Beach has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible online. If not, contact the property manager before you reserve your home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
  • Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.

More considerations:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
  • At Check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all of your things. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to inspire new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
