Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Hilton Head rental experience:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Reserve your Hilton Head rental in Fall or Spring months to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guide magazines that include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to pick the perfect rental in the Hilton Head area:

  • Select dates and budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Oceanview Condo with WiFi, Hot Tub, Pools, Full Kitchen, & Nearby Beach Access has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property management company before you reserve the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is best for your vacation.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

More considerations for your visit:

  • Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Note any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your life at home. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a terrific stay? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
