Tips and Tricks to get the best Hilton Head rental home experience:
Finding your best deal:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in Hilton Head. To get the best value, try shifting your family's Hilton Head trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic.
- Owners sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property managers typically offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Many rental management companies supply Hilton Head area travel guide magazines which include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Narrow your Search:
- Choose vacation dates and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. 32 Corine, Easy Beach Access, Seasonal Beach Shuttle, Pool, Free Golf has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before reserving the home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your group.
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
- Is your group looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Considerations for your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your . Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- To make certain that damages are not linked to your family's stay, record any problem areas during check in. Make contact with the property manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a excellent vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
