Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation rental experience:

Getting the best value:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is high season in the Hilton Head area. To book the most suitable rental home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Choosing the best vacation home:

  • Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Brand-new home with Peloton workout bike & office area - stroll to the beach has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the host before booking the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • If there's a specific Hilton Head attraction you are crazy about, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental

Have a great stay:

  • Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect your property!
  • At Check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on good ratings to propel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
