Tips to get the very best Hilton Head vacation rental experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Booking in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Some property management companies offer promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain discounts for nearby tours and attractions.

How to choose the best vacation home:

  • Select your vacation dates and budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. 4 bed\/3 bath home in Shipyard with peaceful lagoon view and private pool has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. Otherwise, email the property owner before you book the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or costs could be applied to your invoice.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
  • Record any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your life at home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on good ratings to drive more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
