Booking the best Hilton Head vacation property experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal SC. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- The earlier you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain coupons for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Beautifully renovated 4 bedroom Hilton Head Island beach villa has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- If there's a certain Hilton Head destination you love, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
- If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Advice for a great stay:
- Get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- Note any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute arises.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
