Tips and Tricks to get the optimal vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Summer months are high season in Hilton Head. To find the best value, consider shifting your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain discounts for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Filter your search:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. 6 Beachside - 4 Bedroom Private Home Close to South Beach Marina in Sea Pines! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible online. If not, email or call the property manager before you book the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If there's a specific Hilton Head beach you are enamored with, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.
More tips for your visit:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- To make certain that no damages are linked to your visit, note any problem areas upon your arrival. message the property manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be respectful. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
