Tips and Tricks to get the best Hilton Head vacation property experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Book your Hilton Head rental in Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area travel guide magazines which include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and picking the best Hilton Head rental:
- Choose your vacation week and maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Well-appointed villa with rooftop pool & beach access - 1 block to Coligny Plaza has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before reserving the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what is best for your vacation family.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Additional considerations:
- We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. text the rental manager immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many problems.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
