How to book the best Hilton Head vacation rental experience:
Finding the best rental value:
- Summer is high season in the Hilton Head area. To find the best vacation home within budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at Hilton Head restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guides which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select your vacation week and max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Beautiful Beachside Villa! Oceanfront Pool has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is often available online. If they are not listed, email or call the host before you reserve the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.

More considerations:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- To make sure no damages are linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the host right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few issues.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on good ratings to stimulate more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
