Tips to get the very best vacation rental experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Hilton Head. To find the best value, change your family's Hilton Head vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
- In the Hilton Head area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitor guides that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting the perfect rental home in Hilton Head:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Roomy Villa with WiFi, Pool, & Hot Tub - Steps from the Ocean has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available online. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before reserving your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out which bed configuration is suitable for your family.

During your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.

- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
