Strategies to get the very best Hilton Head rental home experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Hilton Head. Reserve your Hilton Head rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose a designated group leader, choose your dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Nautical condo with a balcony, & AC - close to pickleball and tennis courts has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the host before you book the property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.

Know before you go:

  • Add the owner's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • To make certain that no damages are linked to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the host right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a excellent stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
