Tips for getting the perfect Hilton Head vacation rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the best value, try changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to select the perfect rental:
- Start by selecting trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Lovely villa with balcony, rooftop pool, hot tub, & parking - 1 block to beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head vacation rental search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible online. If not, contact the property owner before you book the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what is best for your trip.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
Have a wonderful stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many concerns.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- To make sure that damages aren't linked to your visit, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. text the rental manager immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a excellent vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
