Tricks and tips to get the perfect rental home experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • Summer time is high season in the Hilton Head area. To find the best value, shift your family's Hilton Head trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain deals for nearby tours and attractions.

Finding the best rental home in the Hilton Head area:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Ground-floor condo with pool access, central AC & washer/dryer - quiet location has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head vacation rental search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you reserve the property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If there's an individual Hilton Head destination you are enamored with, browse homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

Advice for a smooth stay:

  • Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • To ensure that damages aren't linked to your visit, note any problem areas during check in. Contact the host right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to compel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
