How to get the best Hilton Head rental home experience:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Hilton Head area. Book your Hilton Head vacation in Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to select the perfect vacation home in Hilton Head:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your dates, and select a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Premium 2 BR Villa with Lagoon View - Sleeps 6 - 4 Free Bikes - Summer Promo has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual Hilton Head beach you long to visit, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
Tips for a smooth stay:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- To make certain that damages are not attributed to your stay, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Get in touch with the property manager right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a excellent time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
