How to get the best vacation home experience:
Getting the most from your spending budget:
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Summer time is high season in Hilton Head. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Finding the best vacation home in the Hilton Head area:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Premium 2 BR Villa with Lagoon View - Sleeps 6 - 4 Free Bikes - Summer Promo has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rental home search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before booking the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what configuration is best for your group.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
- If there's a certain Hilton Head attraction you simply love, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many problems.
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
- During check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be respectful. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a fantastic time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
