Tips to get the very best vacation rental experience:
When to visit Hilton Head & When to reserve a Hilton Head rental home:
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal SC. Reserve your Hilton Head rental property in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- In the Hilton Head area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Some property management companies offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Narrow your Search:
- Select a group leader, select your dates, and select a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Lovely condo walkable to beach access with new deck, pool, central AC, & W/D has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible online. If not, call the host before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If there's a specific Hilton Head destination you simply love, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.
Advice for a terrific stay:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- At Check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
