Hilton Head rental home tips and tricks:
When to visit & When to book:
- Summer time is high season in the Hilton Head area. To find the best value, try shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Some property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides contain deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
How to choose the perfect vacation home:

- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before booking your home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation group.
- If there's an individual Hilton Head attraction you simply love, browse properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
