Tricks and tips to get the very best rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Hilton Head. Booking in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Hilton Head area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking the perfect Hilton Head rental home:
- Start by having your family agree to dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Beautifully remodeled villa near the beach with tennis, pickleball, & pool has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you book the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what is best for your trip.
- Does your group require particular amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your visit, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the host right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific source for finding the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a excellent vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
