Getting the best Hilton Head vacation property experience:

Getting the most from your rental home budget:

  • Reserve your rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guides which include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Choosing and booking the right Hilton Head rental home:

  • First, have your family decide on vacation dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Beautiful condo with pool, tennis, balcony, central AC, & washer/dryer has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before reserving the home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
  • If there's an individual Hilton Head destination you simply love, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or charges applied to your contract.

More considerations:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Upon arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few issues.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a fantastic time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
