Booking the best vacation home experience:
Get the most from your spending budget:
- Summer months are high season in the Hilton Head area. Book your Hilton Head rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Often, property management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting and booking the perfect Hilton Head vacation home:
- First and foremost, have your group select vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. 3 Bed/2.5 Bath South Forest Beach Home has Private Pool and Beach Access Path has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible online. Otherwise, email the property owner before you book your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs applied to your agreement.
Additional considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- During check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
