How to book the best Hilton Head vacation home experience:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer time is high season in Hilton Head. To find the best vacation home for your budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Hilton Head restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Many property management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Choosing and booking your Hilton Head rental:

  • First, have your family commit to the best dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Walk to Fish Haul Beach - brand-new home with multiple decks, AC & fast WiFi has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property owner before you book the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what bed configuration is best for your vacation group.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's a specific Hilton Head destination you long to visit, keep an eye out for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Document any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if there is a dispute.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a excellent stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
