Tricks and tips to get the perfect Hilton Head vacation rental experience:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • To get the best rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Hilton Head attractions.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area travel guides that include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning, selecting, and booking the rightrental:

  • First and foremost, have your family decide on a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Large Home with Panoramic Views of Robert Trent Jones Golf Course and Lagoon! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before reserving the rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If there's an individual Hilton Head destination you long to visit, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.

Tips for your stay:

  • Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Upon arrival, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a fantastic time? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
