Getting the best Hilton Head rental home experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is an excellent way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Some owners offer rate reductions for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many rental management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guides which often include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting the perfect vacation rental:
- Select a group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Dog-friendly ocean view oasis with pool, epic views, & 3-tier outdoor living has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or could be applied to your invoice.
- Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
Advice for a great stay:
- Add the owner's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many concerns.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
- To make certain that no damages are attributed to your stay, record any problem areas during arrival. message the property manager immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- At departure, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on great ratings to compel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
