Strategies for getting the best Hilton Head vacation rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Hilton Head. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select a group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Dog friendly home w\/ an enclosed yard, pool deck, & private pool has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the host before reserving the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If there's a specific Hilton Head attraction you love, browse homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.

More tips for your visit:

  • Get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. Call the rental manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of issues.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected everything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
