Tips to get the best rental home experience:

Getting the best value:

  • In the Hilton Head area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To get the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Hilton Head restaurants, beaches, and activities.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Updated Offshore Breeze retreat with outdoor pool, lagoon & private dock has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available online. Otherwise, contact the property owner before reserving the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or could be applied to your agreement.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Advice for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your stay, note any problem areas during arrival. Contact the host immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a great vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
