Tips and Tricks to get the best Hilton Head vacation property experience:

Sticking to a rental home budget:

  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in Hilton Head. Reserve your rental home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Many rental management companies supply Hilton Head area travel guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Make a plan and pick the bestrental home:

  • To start, have your family select date ranges and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Gorgeous 5 ?? custom home! 5 king suites! FREE Spa Heat, Easy 5min walk to beach has 7 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property management company before you reserve your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what is right for your group.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or charges applied to your invoice.
  • Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of issues.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • Upon check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good feedback to drive future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
