Finding the best Hilton Head rental experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a Hilton Head rental home:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in the Hilton Head area. Book your rental home in the Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Often, management companies supply Hilton Head area travel guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Filter your rental search:
- Start by having your family commit to dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Beautiful Home with Private Pool and Many Updates! has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually available online. Otherwise, contact the property owner before reserving the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
- Is your group looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few concerns.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas during arrival. Call the host right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a excellent stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
