Our top Hilton Head vacation rental home tips and tricks:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Booking your Hilton Head vacation rental in Fall or Spring is a great way to save on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on local tours, shops, and attractions.

Choosing the perfect rental in Hilton Head:

  • Choose your vacation dates and max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. Beautiful & spacious home near the beach with private pool\/pool spa, fast WiFi has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before you book your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what bed configuration is right for your family.
  • If there's a specific Hilton Head attraction you crave, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Make a record of any damages to the property during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if a dispute is filed.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to compel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
