Tips for getting the best Hilton Head rental experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • Book your rental home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property managers typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Choosing the perfect rental:

  • Start by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. 2 Bed\/2 Bath Villa North Shore Place Near Coligny Beach, Rooftop Pool and Spa has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally available online. If not, contact the property manager before you book your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Is your group looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

More considerations for your visit:

  • We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make sure damages aren't attributed to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the host right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a great time? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
