Our top Rental booking tips and tricks:

How to get the best value:

  • In the Hilton Head area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • To find the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Hilton Head restaurants, beaches, and activities.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Selecting and booking your prefect Hilton Head rental:

  • Start by choosing a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Spacious condo with pool, tennis courts, & golf on-site has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before you book the home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges may be applied to your contract.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Tips to have a wonderful stay:

  • Get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect your property!
  • Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Just before checking out, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to drive new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
