How to get the best Hilton Head vacation home experience:
Finding the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To book the largest vacation home within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- In the Hilton Head area, The sooner your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have discounts for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Make a plan and pick the perfect Hilton Head rental home:
- To start, have your group commit to trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. 2 bedroom villa located in Harbourtown has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before booking the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If there's a specific Hilton Head destination you simply love, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Record any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- At departure, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
