Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Hilton Head vacation rental experience:

Finding your perfect vacation home:

  • In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Booking websites often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain coupons for local tours and attractions.

  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
